Ben's work is an 'impression' of the landscape of the area of the English Lake District where he lives and works. The paintings are created with a loose application of brush strokes to capture a feeling for the effects of light, wind and the elements on the environment. It is an attempt to capture a sense of place. The formal qualities of the paint become as important as the visual diary that is recorded.
